Item songs have created tremendous craze among the audience these days. Producers are making writers pen lyrics with double meanings and are making beautiful girls wear short costumes and display their shapes in these songs. They are making tons of loads of money through these songs. Producers are giving as much importance to the item songs as to the story. However this trend is crossing all tolerable limits, of late .
Take for example recent Bollywood films ‘Dabang’ and ‘Tees Maar Khan.’ The films were woven round item songs. They used the item songs for publicity and made money. As ‘Munni Badnam Huye’ song was a smashing hit in ‘Dabang’, they made Katrina dance to an obscene song in ‘Tees Maar Khan.’ In this backdrop, Tollywood producers are also following the same trend.
However, cine Pundits are lamenting that values are falling down and are cautioning this trend is not good for the future of the film industry. They point out that all the ‘Nava Rasas’ (nine essential emotions) are to be shown in the films and depending on romance alone, was not healthy. They say that the audience would get vexed with such films soon.
These experts say that the trend should change at least now and producers should put an end to making women strip their clothes, to spin currency. Films with good stories and values would ensure longevity to the film industry, they suggest. They also point out that falling values is directly responsible for the falling success rate in the film industry. This is also the opinion of the average film viewer. Producers are viewing film making as a money making trade - sans artistic values. They must give up their greed for money, which is striking at the roots of the film industry.
